Purple Ribbon Minority Women’s Organization is a community-based nonprofit in Indianapolis dedicated to uplifting women, children, and seniors through education, advocacy, and access to essential resources. Sandra Day

Founder & Executive Director

Sandra Day is the founder and executive director of the Purple Ribbon Minority Women’s Organization, where she leads with purpose, resilience, and a deep commitment to uplifting underserved communities in Indianapolis. Inspired by her own lived experience as a survivor of domestic violence, Sandra transformed personal hardship into a powerful mission focused on creating safe spaces, support systems, and life-changing resources for minority women and families. Her work is rooted in trauma-informed care, cultural sensitivity, and a strong belief that healing is possible when people are met with compassion and dignity. Under her leadership, the organization continues to expand its impact through education, empowerment initiatives, health awareness, and community outreach that supports women, children, and seniors.


Verna Hewlett

Board Chair

Verna Hewlett serves as the Board Chair of the Purple Ribbon Minority Women’s Organization, providing leadership and guidance that supports the organization’s mission and long-term growth. With a commitment to advocacy, community development, and strategic planning, Verna plays an essential role in ensuring the organization remains focused, accountable, and impactful. She is passionate about supporting programs that improve the lives of women, children, and seniors, while strengthening resources that help families thrive. Anita Booker

Board Member

Anita Booker is a valued board member of the Purple Ribbon Minority Women’s Organization, committed to advancing initiatives that uplift underserved women and families. With a strong passion for community service and social impact, Anita contributes her time, leadership, and insight to support the organization’s growth and outreach efforts. Madelynn Moody

Board Chair, Community Baby Shower Program

Madelynn Moody serves as the Board Chair for the community baby shower program at Purple Ribbon Minority Women’s Organization, supporting one of the organization’s most meaningful outreach initiatives. With a heart for maternal health and family wellness, Madelynn is dedicated to ensuring expecting mothers receive encouragement, essential resources, and a strong support network during pregnancy and early motherhood. Her leadership helps strengthen the organization’s efforts to reduce infant mortality and promote healthy parenting practices in underserved communities.
